More Comedy Capers at Cross Keys

Comedy Capers Volume Three can be seen at the Cross Keys on Saturday, December 14, as the free stand-up night returns to the Belper venue, from 8.30pm.

Compered and organised by James Wallace, it is expected to feature around eight or nine acts on a bumper bill of comics, with Dave Tomlinson, Ben Brown, Lulu Reubens, Masai Graham and Paul Nightingale already confirmed, travelling from as far afield as Yorkshire, Birmingham and Stoke.

As a stand-up, James, from Ambergate, has performed in London, Leeds, Derby, at Leicester’s inaugural Handmade Festival, and is delighted with how the previous two Comedy Capers nights have gone at the Cross Keys.

“It can be difficult to get a gig without having to travel so I wanted to do something local and this is it. I worked behind the bar at the Cross Keys, approached the landlord about hosting a comedy night and he was keen.”

James - who says the Cross Keys’ landlord has described him as “awful comedian, great compere!” - added: “We try to do something different, so we have live music, and the response has been very encouraging.”
