Mozart and Mahler works at the RCH

The Nottingham Classics season continues at the city’s Royal Concert Hall with a visit by the Philharmonia Orchestra on Friday, February 5.

Conducted by Lahav Shani, the concert, which starts at 7.30pm, features two contrasting pieces: Mozart’s Piano Concerto No 20, with Shani also doubling up as soloist, and Mahler’s First Symphony, nicknamed Titan.

The work is multi-faceted offering, containing sounds of nature, a funeral march based on Frere Jacques, distant fanfares and triumophant ending.
