The Derbyshire Church Open Day is an event that is taking place on Saturday, September 13.
It will involve a number of churches across the area. This is a chance to visit some of the most historic and attractive buildings in our area.
Among those taking part are:
n Christ Church in Belper will be open from 10am-5pm with light refreshments available.
n St Margaret’s in Carsington will be open from 10am-6pm
n St Mary’s in Crich is open from 10am-4pm
n St Matthew’s in Darley Abbey is open from 10am-2pm for guided tours and refreshments, from 2.30pm-4pm for a film show and from 7pm for Last Night Of The Proms.
n Christ Church in Holloway is open and everyone is welcome
nDerby Cathedral is open from 10am-4.30pm. There are guided tours, tower visits (£3 per adult/£2 per child (eight and over), a church heritage exhibition (books, artefacts, embroidery) and the Cathedral Cafe will also be open
n St Matthew’s in Morley is open from 2pm-4pm, with tea and biscuits available. The adjacent Sacheverell Bateman Mausoleum will also be open during the afternoon.
