Based at The Stute in Ilkeston, Orchard Theatre Company has shown its merits by winning one of the top awards at the NANDA (Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Drama Association) Play of the Year awards dinners.
Led by Gwyneth Crooks, a group of past and present performers representing Orchard (formerly Bramcote and Stanton Drama Group) joined more than 100 people representing eight groups at the function which was co-ordinated by Joan Wildgust.
Amanda Hall, an accomplisheddirector was the adjudicatorfor this season’s NANDA plays and awarded the Peter and Joan Martin Award for Best Front of House to the theatre group.
She singled out the front of house team for special praise for its work during productions of ‘Gym & Tonic’ and ‘A Fly in the Ointment’.
Orchard Theatre Company has never won that award before and a spokesman for the group told the Advertiser: “Our congratulations go to the Front of House Team in winning this award and a special thank you to Sarah Mackintosh, Front of House Manager, for her sterling work this year.”
