Ashrow Theatre Company will be presenting a production of Uncle Vanya, to be staged at Derby’s Guildhall Theatre, from January 12-18.
The play is one of the most of famous works by the legendary playwright Anton Chekhov.
First published in 1897, it was premiered in 1899 and has kept its place in the repertoire of theatrical groups the world over ever since then.
Deep in the Russian countryside, an isolated household’s rich owner returns for a short spell of recuperation.
But what happens when people arrive and start to break the monotony?
What does a girl do when she discovers that the man she loves is actually in love with someone else?
What does a man do when he discovers that his employer is planning to make him redundant and homeless?
What does a young woman do when her husband has become frail before his time and has everyone else falling at her feet?
In this brand new adaptation, Chekhov’s classic addresses love triangles, adultery, money, morality, self-worth... to name but a few.
Tickets to see Ashrow Theatre Company in action, priced at £13.25, concessions £11.25 can be purchased through the Derby Live box office on 01332 255800 or online at www.derbylive.co.uk
