Essential work on city centre arts venue

The Great Hall at Derby LIVE’s Assembly Rooms Great Hall is closed now until the end of September while essential maintenance work is carried out.

During the summer refurbishment, the ceiling will be replaced, with the new design improving the acoustics and lighting within the venue.

A new hardwood sprung floor will also be laid, which will provide a better experience for dancing on and for shows and events utilising the Great Hall in its flat floor format. A new fire alarm and detection system with new emergency lighting will also be installed throughout the building, ensuring a high level of safety is maintained for years to come.

The Darwin Suite at the Assembly Rooms and the associated Guildhall Theatre will be open as usual throughout this period, offering comedy, drama and music from some quality performers.

The Great Hall will reopen with a packed programme in October. Audiences will be able to choose from comedy from Ed Byrne and Stewart Lee, the 7th annual Derby Folk Festival, the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra and Joe Pasquale in Ha Ha Holmes, to name just a few.

Tickets for all Derby LIVE shows can be purchased on 01332 255800.
