Derby Theatre has announced the appointment of Adam Pownall as its new programme co-ordinator, a role with the responsibility to co-ordinate and programme a wide and diverse range of productions and events within the different spaces at the venue.
Prior to starting his new role at Derby Theatre, Adam was the Theatre Co-Ordinator at Create Theatre in Mansfield, a state-of-the-art, 150-seat facility.
Adam has had a varied and successful career in the arts, both locally and nationally, working as a freelance actor, director, dancer, teacher, technician and Project Co-ordinator, and has worked with numerous venues and companies across the region
Adam said: “I feel very privileged to be joining the Derby Theatre team as Programme Co-ordinator. What Sarah Brigham, Gary Johnson and the organisation of committed staff are developing in Derby is very exciting for the region, which has been reflected through their recent inclusion into, and as one of the, Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisations. Within my role, I’ll be programming both the Main House, under Sarah’s artistic vision, and adding uniqueness to the programme in the Studio theatre.
Sarah Brigham, Derby Theatre’s artistic director: “I’m thrilled to welcome Adam to the Derby Theatre team. He has a wealth of experience in the arts, in a variety of roles, and I’m confident he will become a valued member of staff.
“Through his passion and drive to develop Create Theatre, his previous workplace, and the success he has achieved in making it a thriving touring venue, which is
both rooted in its community and one that creatively and successfully links to West Nottinghamshire College as an
invaluable learning resource, demonstrates to us that he will be an ‘excellent fit’ for Derby Theatre and the ideal
person to help us achieve our aims and goals as a learning theatre.”
