John Godber’s work has always proved popular with Derbyshire audiences so a production of his play April In Paris at Derby Theatre should prove just the ticket for local theatregoers.
Shobna Gulati and Joe McGann take the starring roles in the production, which can be seen from June 27-July 12.
Following the hugely successful run of John Godber’s September in the Rain last year, Derby Theatre is delighted to present another of the popular playwright’s comical masterpieces, which was nominated for an Olivier Award.
Al and Bet’s relationship is on the rocks. He recently lost his job, while she works in a shoe shop and can only dream of a better life.
But things are about to change... When Bet wins a romantic night in Paris, the city of love, Al wonders who she’ll take with her.
Resigned to taking her husband, Paris actually reignites their relationship as never before, but the reality of returning home looms large...
This is a hilarious romantic adventure that is sure to strike a chord with local audiences.
John Godber is the third most performed playwright in the UK, after William Shakespeare and Alan Ayckbourn.
