Lidl wants to build a new store in Kimberley
The supermarket giant is ‘particularly interested’ in Kimberley – with hopes to set up shop in the town.
In a list on its website, Lidl has set out its 'store requirements' as part of plans to expand its offering across the UK.
The German retailer is hoping to set up shop in Kimberley and also has its eye on other areas of Nottinghamshire.
The website reads: “To continue our phenomenal growth, we require further sites. These pages highlight locations that particularly interest us.”
The list includes ten sites it hopes to move into across Nottinghamshire, including Kimberley, West Bridgford, Strelley, Mapperley, Edwalton, Basford and Kirkby-in-Ashfield.
A store is also planned for Ilkeston.
If Lidl finds a suitable site in Kimberley, the budget retailer could join the likes of Sainsbury’s and Heron Foods as a major supermarket for the town.
