A map of English counties showing the number of children waiting to be adopted has been unveiled.

The Adoption Gateway Map offers entry to adoption agencies for prospective adopters.

Steve Edwards, director for children’s social care, added: “I think the map is as much a reflection of child populations in local authorities as it is of performance. This map may encourage potential adopters in Nottinghamshire to come forward.”

Adoption manager Shelagh Mitchell explained that although the map shows the council has more than 83 children waiting for families, 40 children have a match but their place is not confirmed.
