Annual dog show in woodlands

Dog owners can enter their pets into this year’s ‘Annual Companion Dog Show’, due to be held on August 4 at Colliers Wood in Moorgreen.

As well as the dog show there will be games, quizzes, food and ice cream and an agility course. An obedience display led by Margaret Sutcliffe will encourage owners to train their dogs.

The dog show has four breed class and 18 novelty classes, judged by Mr B Alton.

The annual show is held each year to raise funds for Dogs for the Disabled, who train dogs for children and adults with disabilities to offer them freedom and independence.

The Friends of Colliers Wood, who actively encourage and promote community involvement in the woodland, has organised the event. The group They act as a link between the community who use the area, and Broxtowe Borough Council who manage it.

Registration starts at 11am and entry to the showground is free. There is an admission charge for entry to classes, with shields and cup presented at the end of the day.
