Annual dog show in woodlands

Prized pooches will get the chance to impress at the ‘Annual Companion Dog Show’ due to be held on Sunday (August 4) at Colliers Wood in Moorgreen.

As well as the dog show, there will be games, quizzes, food and ice-cream and an agility course. An obedience display led by Margaret Sutcliffe will encourage owners to train their dogs.

The dog show has four breed and 18 novelty classes.

The show is held each year to raise funds for Dogs for the Disabled, which trains dogs for children and adults with disabilities to offer them freedom and independence.

The Friends of Colliers Wood, which actively encourage and promote community involvement in the woodland, has organised the event. The group acts as a link between the community who use the area, and Broxtowe Borough Council, which manages it.

Registration starts at 11am and entry to the showground is free.

There is an admission charge for entry to classes, with shields and cups presented at the end of the day.
