Ashfield has seen the joint highest number of young people entering into apprenticeships in the East Midlands.

Statistics obtained by the Liberal Democrats revealed since 2010, a record breaking 4660 young people have entered apprenticeship schemes in the Ashfield and Eastwood - the same number as in Mansfield.

The parliamentary candidate for Ashfield who obtained the figures, Jason Zadrozny, said he is delighted by the news as it is good for the area.

He added: “The young people of Ashfield should have the opportunity to get on in life and apprenticeships are a great way of doing that.”
