Average wages still haven’t caught up

Official statistics have revealed that the average weekly earnings for both men and women in Eastwood still haven’t caught up with the wages they were taking home at the time of the last general election.

According to the Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings, male workers’ wages in the constituency lag well behind when it comes to the amount of cash they once took home in 2010 - which was £498.10.

By 2014 this had fallen substantially to £461 which is £37.10 less a week than four years ago.

For female employees in Eastwood, the average weekly wage now stands at £311 a week which means women in the constituency haven’t had a pay-rise in four years.
