A GROUP who secured funding for a play area in Brinsley to have a makeover has received a prestigious award.
The Friends of Brinsley Play Area worked hard to get the playground re-vamped and members were presented with an award by the Campaign for the Protection of Rural England (CPRE).
The group was nominated by Brinsley Parish Council and awarded the Valerie Gillespie Cup at the village’s parish hall.
The award is given to the best community initiative enhancing the environment in Nottinghamshire, and is in memory of Mrs Valerie Gillespie MBE.
The makeover cost £50,000 and was funded by the Big Lottery Fund, Nottinghamshire County Council and Brinsley Parish Council.
