Eastwood’s DH Lawrence Heritage Centre has been recognised for its work in the local area after being short-listed for the prestigious ‘Heart of the Community Award’ at this year’s East Midlands Heritage Awards.
The nomination recognises the work of the heritage centre within the local community to keep alive the writer’s legacy and preserve the heritage of Eastwood, particularly during events held as part of the DH Lawrence Festival, which is now in its 12th year.
The awards will be presented at an evening ceremony at the Nottingham Conference Centre on Tuesday 9th June.
Planning for the 2015 festival is already well underway and aims to be even more diverse and community centred than previous events, a spokesman for the centre said.
This year it has been re-branded as the DH Lawrence Festival of Culture and aims to attract an even wider audience with a programme of over 40 events.
The 2015 festival will take place from Thursday 27th August to Saturday 19th September. The centre has also just received a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence award.
