Brinsley teen is honoured at Lords

A high-flying apprentice from Brinsley was honoured for his achievements at a prestigious reception hosted in the House of Lords.

Danny Flint was selected by West Nottinghamshire College from its crop of 12,000 apprentices in recognition of his talent, dedication and contribution to the workplace.

Eastwood MP Gloria De Piero attended the event, and met Danny who told her how much he was enjoying his accountancy apprenticeship at Gedling Borough Council.

The local lad had previously worked for his dad for two years before getting on the apprenticeship scheme and described it as a dream come true to be working in finance.

Gloria said; “It was great to meet Danny, he was full of enthusiasm and couldn’t speak highly enough of the local college and Gedling Borough Council.

“He might only just be starting out in his prospective career but I’m sure he’s going to go on and have a long and successful career.

“There’s nothing better than seeing a local youngster go on to follow their dreams and I wish him the best of luck going forward, his family must be so proud.”

The event was hosted by Baroness Prashar CBE and was attended by politicians, senior figures from the world of further education and figures from the skills sector.

West Nottinghamshire College Group is one of the largest providers of employer-related training in the country.

The college picked 30’outstanding’ apprentices altogether. It is the second year running it has staged the ‘Celebration of Apprenticeships’ event in Westminster.
