Two councils have joined forces to bring back a bus service between Eastwood and Alfreton that was axed more than two years ago.
Derbyshire County Council approved the decision to restore Monday to Saturday evening and Sunday services on the Trent Barton Rainbow 1 route, which goes through Somercotes, until next July.
The service was withdrawn in April 2011 but it was agreed to jointly fund bringing it back with Nottinghamshire County Council on a trial basis from December 1.
The service will be monitored until the contract runs out, when a decision will be made on extending it depending on passenger numbers and the budget of both councils.
The bus route will provide hourly services, with alternate journeys running through Leabrooks or Pye Bridge, and on Sunday it will join the Trent Barton service to Nottingham, allowing passengers to stay on without changing buses.
The services are, Monday to Saturday: Alfreton to Eastwood will now run until 11.15pm, Eastwood to Alfreton, will now run until 10.45pm.
Sunday, Alfreton to Eastwood will now run from 8.43am to 5.53pm, and the Eastwood to Alfreton bus will now run from 9.13am to 6.38pm.
