Eastwood’s Citizen’s Advice Bureau has warned of a known scam in the area, and urges caution when reading what comes through the letterbox.
A flier was posted to a house in Broxtowe this week appearing to be a parcel delivery card but has been identified as a scam.
Project Researcher of Eastwood CAB, Jayne Tysoe, added: “Luckily they realised it was probably a scam and reported it to the police.
“However we are worried that not everyone will be so alert and if they ring the number on the card they will not just lose £10 they will be giving their credit card details to criminals who may steal a lot more from them.
“This scam is active now and we want to prevent people being caught out.”
The scam card has “LSL” and “AIRMAIL” branding on it, with blue and orange airmail stripes along the edge. It may state that postage was paid in Malaysia.
Anyone worried they have been victim of this or any scam can contact the Citizens Advice Broxtowe on 0115 917 3800.
