Families are being encouraged to attend the Christmas lights switch-on in Eastwood next month.
The event, on Tuesday, November 24, 6pm-8pm, will include a unique pedal powered cinema showing festive flick, The Snowman.
It will take place along Nottingham Road from Plumtre Way to Mansfield Road and includes a packed programme of free festive entertainment, live music and dance.
At 7pm the Christmas lights switch-on will take place at The Hollies with The Mayor of Broxtowe Coun Susan Bagshaw and The Mayor of Eastwood Coun Keith Longdon in attendance. A firework display will then start at 8.00pm.
There will also be: Glow performers; Fairground rides; Street performers; Arts and crafts marquee; Fairy Grotto at D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum and Santa’s grotto at The Sun Inn and Lawrence Vetinary surgery.
There will also be more festive activities taking place at The Sun Inn including: Santa’s Grotto with a present from Santa; Mulled cider; a BBQ; Outdoor heaters; Discounted drinks and a kids’ disco from 5pm.
There will be a road closure in place from 6pm-9pm on Nottingham Road, at which point no vehicle movement will be allowed from Plumtre Way to Mansfield Road. It is recommended that those needing to use their vehicle during this period make alternative parking arrangements.
The event is organised by Broxtowe Borough Council in partnership with Eastwood Town Council and Eastwood Town Light Switch On Steering Group and sponsored by Boyes.
