Christmas inches closer in Eastwood and Kimberley later this month when the two towns stage their annual Christmas lights switch-on ceremonies.

Eastwood’s event will take place on Tuesday, November 27, from 6 pm to 8 pm, along Nottingham Road, from Plumptre Way to Mansfield Road.

Sponsored by Oliver’s pub and kitchen and organised by Broxtowe Borough Council, it will feature live music and entertainment, festive stalls, street entertainers, arts and crafts, Santa’s grotto, hot food and mulled wine.

The lights will be switched on at 6.30 pm by the Mayor of Broxtowe, Coun Derek Burnett, and the Mayor of Eastwood, Coun Pat Hamilton. And the night will be rounded off by a fireworks display.

Kimberley’s event takes place on Friday, November 30, also from 6 pm to 8 pm. It will start with a candelit procession from Holy Trinity Parish Church to Toll Bar Square, where the lights will be switched on at 7 pm.

Among a host of other attractions, there will be live music, entertainers, stalls, Santa’s grotto, Santa’s sleigh and a fireworks display.
