Plans for a cinema at Giltbrook Retail Park could soon be revived, according to local councillor Richard Robinson.

A petition, supporting the idea of a cinema, was organised by Coun Robinson, of Broxtowe Borough Council, back in 2013.

He was even shown proposals for a cinema to be opened by 2022. But since then, they have been put on the backburner “because of other priorities for the site”.

However, Coun Robinson has now had a meeting with the commercial property company, British Land, which owns the retail park, and put forward the case again.

“An inceasing number of people have asked me about what is happening with the cinema proposals,” said Coun Robinson. “I am awaiting a response to some detailed enquiries I have made because there is growing interest in this idea again.”

Meanwhile, Coun Robinson has described as “unacceptable” serious cases of fly-tipping near the petrol station at Gin Close Way, Awsworth. Fridges and other electrical goods have been dumped near flowing water.
