Several community events are being hosted at a cafe in Kimberley next week.

Rumbletums in Newdigate Street, a cafe for youngsters with learning disabilities, will have a traid craft stall selling fair trade food and craft items between 10am and 2pm on March 1.

This will be followed by a disco for people with learning disabilities and their family and friends between 7.15pm and 9.30pm.

On March 4 there will be drop-in taster craft sessions with an experienced tutor between 10am and 12 noon, and on March 6 the cafe will host a workshop teaching shop owners the ‘secrets of retail’, in an event organised by Broxtowe Borough Council.

Locals can drop in to Rumbletums any Tuesday between 10am and 12 noon to find out about the products and services offered by the Kimberley branch of Nottingham Credit Union.

The credit union, run from the cafe, was officially launched on February 1.

It offers savings accounts for adults and children, current accounts, rent accounts, budget accounts for bills, and loans at very competitive interest rates.

The cafe hosted its first carers group session last Wednesday, for parents and carers of people with learning disabilities.
