Community projects in Nottinghamshire are being urged to apply for thousands of pounds worth of funding, generated by a tax paid on landfill in the area.
Not-for-profit organisation WREN wants applications for its small and main grant schemes, which award individual grants of between £2,000 and £50,000. F
unds will be awarded to projects across the UK that will improve the lives of local people, such as play areas, village halls and parks.
To apply for funding, projects must be located within 10 miles of a landfill site, managed by WRG (Waste Recycling Group Limited).
Since 2000, WREN has supported over 700 projects in Nottinghamshire, giving away more than £12.5 million. In 2010 alone, more than £818,000 was awarded to 27 local projects.
