Council leader wants money spent on burglary

THE leader of Eastwood Town Council says the £18,000 being spent on crime in Eastwood South should be spent on bringing the number of burglaries down.

David Bagshaw – a crime reduction manager for Nottinghamshire police – said burglary was his priority.

“It’s the most heinous of crimes and I would like to think we could spend the money on securing property and fitting intruder alarms. Spring will soon be here and the number of burglaries will increase.”

Cllr Bagshaw also said some should be spent on anti-social behaviour at Eastwood cemetery.

Nottinghamshire County Council’s Safer Notts Board is spending £18,000 on reducing crime in the Eastwood South and wants residents feedback on what the money should be spent on.
