Amber Valley Borough Council has increased its recycling output by 230 tonnes per month since a new waste collection system was put in place.

The new recycling service began in November - allowing people to put all of their recycling into a single wheeled bin, instead of having to divide it between coloured boxes and bags.

This week the council – which serves Langley Mill – says the system has helped improve its recycling figures compared with data from December 2011.

The new grey bins can be used to recycle paper, card, cans, and plastic. They have a separate caddy within the bin to collect glass.
