Council’s £355m plan

A PROGRAMME of new building and maintenance projects worth almost £355m was considered at a Nottinghamshire County Council meeting this week.

Around £14m is being set aside to create extra space for schools along with £70m to improve the condition of schools.

A minimum of 160 extra care housing places for older people are to be created over the next five years with a contribution of £12.65m from county council funding. A further £6.7m is being allocated for improving and refurbishing 14 day centres across the county.

The programme includes an annual £12m earmarked for highways maintenance and £1.6m to refurbish the county’s libraries.
