Council urges take a break from booze


Nottinghamshire County Council is encouraging residents to call time on their drinking for a month as part of the national Dry January initiative being run by Alcohol Concern.

As part of Dry January people will stop drinking for one month to make a healthier start to the year and recover from indulgencies of the Christmas and New Year period.

Alcohol concern say that a a result people will feel more energised, and will save money.

In Nottinghamshire, it is estimated that 21.2% of people are binge drinkers, which is slightly higher than the East Midlands regional average of 20.1%.
