TWO Greasley parish councillors with 70 years combined service will stand down next month.

Councillors Neil Hutchinson and David Taylor will step down at the elections next Thursday, May 5.

Greasley Parish Council chairman John Handley said in a meeting this month they had been the ‘backbone of the council’ and he would be sad to see them go.

“We will miss the expertise and the guidance of these two people and I want to thank the two of them for their tremendous commitment,” he said.

“They have been the backbone of this parish council for a long time.”

Cllr Hutchinson said after the meeting: “I want to thank all of the councillors for supporting me.”
