Crime levels drop again

THE latest Home Office figures show crime in the county is reducing three times faster than the national average.

Crime fell in the county by 14 per cent during 2010/11 compared to the national average of just five per cent.

Cllr Mick Murphy, Nottinghamshire County Council’s cabinet member for community safety, said: “This is great news for the county and shows that the police and local authorities in the county are working in the right direction to help cut crime locally.”

Cllr Murphy said the council had helped make ‘great strides’ with domestic violence, anti-social behaviour and hate crime.
