Long Eaton drug dealer forced to pay back cash

A LONG Eaton man charged with drugs offences has been stripped of more than £2,500 by magistrates.

At a hearing under the Proceeds of Crime Act on Thursday, magistrates in Derby made a forfeiture order to strip £2,520 from the 48-year-old. He was also ordered to pay £4,730 costs.

The case against the man began in June 2010 when officers carried out a drugs warrant at an industrial unit in Fields Farm Road, Long Eaton. He was arrested at the scene when officers found suspected cannabis plants growing inside.

His Long Eaton home was also searched and £2,520 worth of cash was found.

He was later charged with producing cannabis, possession with intent to supply, abstracting electricity and concealing criminal property and is awaiting sentence.
