Man charged with racially-aggravated assault in connection with Eastwood robbery

A man has been charged with racially-aggravated assault in connection with a knifepoint robbery in Eastwood.

A man has been charged in connection to the incident.

Police officers were called to Nottingham Road in the town at around 6.40pm on Saturday, March 6, after a man was reported to have been assaulted and threatened at knifepoint.

The man had suffered injuries to his hand in the attack as well as having cash and a bag taken from him.

Mitchell Unthank, 20, of Nottingham Road in Eastwood, has been charged with racially-aggravated assault, robbery and possession of a bladed article.

Unthank appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on March 8.

Detective sergeant Frank Guddemi, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Robbery is a serious offence and we always investigate reports thoroughly.

“Thankfully, the victim was not seriously injured in this incident, but, as with any violent offence, there is always potential for it escalate.

“Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and I’d ask that anyone who saw something suspicious in the area at the time reports it as soon as possible.”
