Next year’s police budget approved

Nottinghamshire Police Authority approved its budget for next year in a meeting last week.

The budget was set at £197.2m – a reduction of £3.6m from last year.

The authority will have to find savings of £42.3m over the next four years.

Over £23m needs to be found before March 2013, a further £8m must be saved by March 2014 and another £11m by the end of March 2015.

This means the overall amount that needs to be saved in next year’s budget, between April 2011 and April 2012 is £10.3m.

There will be two operational policing divisions instead of four, departments will amalgamate, new stations including Eastwood will be put on hold, the force’s fleet size will be reduced and staff will be made redundant.
