Officers were called to Blackthorn Drive, Eastwood, shortly before 11.45pm on Saturday by a concerned member of the public.

A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and attempting to cause criminal damage.

He has since been released on police bail while investigations continue.

Two weapons have been recovered as part of investigations into the incident

Detective sergeant Charlotte Henson, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We take reports of firearms offences extremely seriously and work to apprehend suspects as quickly as possible.

"There can be no excuse for wielding any kind of weapon in the street – regardless of whether it’s an air or pellet gun.

"These devices can look exactly the same as lethal firearms and police officers have to react accordingly.

“We are keen to understand exactly what happened during this incident and would like to speak to anyone who witnessed what happened.

"We’d be particularly keen to speak to anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from the area at the time of the alleged offence.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call 101 quoting incident 947 of 18 July.

Three people were also arrested last week after an incident involving a BB gun – an air powered device that fires small metal pellets.

The trio – two men aged 25 and 21, and 26-year-old woman – were detained following an incident on Sunday, July 11, and when a man was seen on a CCTV camera wielding the weapon. All three have been released on bail.
