A POLICE investigation is continuing following an arson attack at a house in Selston.
Fire crews from Ashfield were called to the blaze at a property on Nottingham Road on Wednesday November 9.
Police later confirmed that they were treating the fire as suspicious and urged anyone with information to come forward.
Meanwhile, nearby residents have described what happened on the morning the fire broke out.
Rachel Kirk was in bed at the time. She said: “My husband opened the curtains and there were flashing lights but we didn’t hear any sirens.
“I only saw one or two police cars and a fire engine. It wasn’t hectic but I know there was a lot of activity.”
Another householder, who asked not to be named, said: “I saw the flashing lights – it was about 2am.
“I thought I’d better come down. I went to the bedroom and I could see black smoke.
“I thought, ‘that looks close’ so I got dressed and came out.
“I could see how busy all the men were. There were two fire engines and they were here until about 4am.”
