Sister of TV presenter Julia Bradbury escapes injury after rock thrown from M1 bridge hits her car in Nottinghamshire

Julia took to Twitter on Sunday to share shocking details of the incident which happened as her sister Gina Bradbury-Fox was travelling along the northbound carriageway between junctions 26 and 27 at around 11.50am on Saturday.

The former Countryfile host is now appealing for anyone with information to contact Nottinghamshire Police – and revealed the object which hit the bonnet of the vehicle was hurled onto the motorway by ‘three young ‘uns’.

She wrote: “It hit the bonnet and smashed the windscreen. She careered off the road avoiding cars but luckily nobody killed...

“If you know who it might be or know anything about it please have a word & contact the Nottinghamshire police. Obviously this could have been fatal.”

Following Julia’s post to her 111,000 followers, a number of people tweeted her to offer their support to her sister – who responded by saying she was 'shaken by not stirred'.

Gina tweeted: “Thanks sis. Scary stuff. Shame that these kids can’t use their time and energy to do good rather than bad.

“Especially in these times when we should all pull together. I’m lucky that I didn’t hit anyone.”

Police have confirmed they are investigating the incident, which they say happened on the footbridge that can be accessed from the Common Lane and Whyburn Lane areas of Hucknall.

Insp Mark Dickson said: “This was a reckless and dangerous act that put multiple lives at risk. It was only a matter of good fortune that this object hit the bonnet first before it hit the windscreen. Luckily the driver was not injured but it was a shocking and frightening incident that could have been an awful lot worse.

“We are taking what happened here extremely seriously and have begun a very thorough investigation.

"We have examined CCTC footage from near the area and would like to speak to anybody who saw three young men acting suspiciously at around this time.

“We’d particularly like to speak to anyone with any dashcam or CCTV footage who may help us identify the people responsible.”
