A tearful shoplifter could not explain to magistrates why she went on a thieving spree around a supermarket in Mansfield.
Janette Ann Clarke, 50, of Chesterfield Road South, was watched by security at Tesco walking around the store and placing food, clothing and alcohol worth £86 in her own trolley and trying to leave the store without paying.
Admitting a charge of theft from a shop, Mansfield Magistrates’ Court the court was told that she had previous convictions for similar thefts dating back to 2004.
Representing herself, she burst into tears when asked to explain her actions.
She was fined £110 and made to pay £205 in costs.
