Teenager taken to hospital after laser shone at him

A 13-year-old from Eastwood needed hospital treatment after having a laser pen shone in his face.

Youngsters have been causing havoc misusing lasers in the town over the last two weeks and a 13-year-old boy was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham after an incident in Plumptre Way last Wednesday.

Lasers have been pointed at drivers and shone into homes in Nottingham Road and Chewton Street. They have also been used in Coronation Park, Morrisons and at the library.

Police officers arrested a 12-year-old and a 13-year-old after the incident in the library on March 23.

Pc Martin Battison said: “The lasers emit an intense light that can temporarily burn the retina of the eye causing extreme pain. Therefore any such incident is common assault.”

Then children arrested are now on bail.
