Eastwood’s DH Lawrence Heritage has been awarded £9,900 by the Heritage Lottery Fund as part of a special ‘Digital Giving’ project.

As part of the project, D.H Lawrence Heritage will launch a digital giving webpage to encourage donations from local and national businesses to help the site in organising and delivering a variety of community events focusing on local history and heritage.

The digital giving portal, being developed with the help of web and digital consultancy Think Amigo, will be compatible with mobile devices as well as desktop computers and donations will help fund a programme of innovative community events that will celebrate local history and heritage.

Broxtowe Borough Council Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, Councillor Ian Tyler said: “This is a fantastic project that will help ensure that the Heritage Centre and Birthplace Museum can diversify its income to continue to offer quality community events with real benefit for the local area. The D.H. Lawrence Heritage team work extremely hard and we are delighted the Heritage Lottery Fund have awarded them this funding.”

Using money raised through the National Lottery, the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) aims to make a lasting difference for heritage, people and communities across the UK and help build a resilient heritage economy. From museums, parks and historic places to archaeology, natural environment and cultural traditions, HLF invest in every part of the UK’s diverse heritage. HLF has supported over 36,000 projects with more than £5.9bn across the UK. Further details can be found at www.hlf.org.uk.
