Labour MP Gloria De Piero has written to Nottinghamshire’s police and NHS bosses to ask what services are available to victims of child abuse and how survivors can access them as more people step forward amid pressure to investigate historic child abuse allegations in children’s homes and institutions across the region.
Skegby Hall, in the MP’s Ashfield constituency is one of several homes across the county now under investigation by Nottinghamshire Police’s Operation Daybreak.
The Ashfield MP is now pressing the authorities to work together and ensure that services are ready and on hand to provide immediate support to victims as soon as they step forward.
Ms De Piero said: “Given the harrowing nature of these cases, anyone who comes forward needs to know that the right services and the very best support is going to be made available to them. It takes incredible bravery and I want to ensure survivors are looked after when they do.
“I hope this might then encourage others out there to get in touch either directly with myself or Nottinghamshire Police.”
