Eastwood folk were treated to a fun-packed night of festive entertainment on Tuesday as the Christmas lights were switched on.
Hundreds joined together on Eastwood’s streets to celebrate the start of the Christmas season.
The event featured a variety of live music and dance and stretched from Eastwood Library to the new Young People’s Centre on Mansfield Road and kicked off at 6pm.
First up was a main stage performance from talented young Eastwood act The Hollies, followed by the light switch on and the firework finale.
Children were each treated to a small gift from Santa and his Elf, Dazzle, in his magical grotto at Eastwood Library.
Local charity and voluntary organisation stalls were also there and there was entertainment on the small stage underneath the Christmas tree from one man band Bill Brookman, lantern gathering and a parade led by the Musketeers of Chesterfield and Eastwood.
Christmas Carols were also performed by Churches Together and the Musketeers.
Broxtowe mayor Margaret Handley and Eastwood Town Mayor Brian Griffin presided over the switch on which also featured fairground rides for all the family.
