Students’ plea for sports kit

STUDENTS are collecting unwanted sports kit so that they can be re-distributed to impoverished communities in Kenya.

The 21 students from Derby College are visiting the Rift Valley next month where they will coach children in a wide range of sports and also work in communities to refurbish their much-needed facilities.

They have raised more than £4,500 to fund the trip and are busy collecting sports kit including clothing, balls, and bats to take with them for the sports coaching sessions and to leave with schools and teams.

Sports student Jack Gibbs, 18, from West Hallam, said: “Although we know that the communities we are working with are very poor, we don’t completely know what to expect and we are looking forward to finding out more about the culture there.”

Call Paul Bowen on 0300 123 7890 ext 4101 to donate sports kit.
