Organisers of this year’s Underwood Gala say they are keeping their fingers crossed for good weather when the event is held in nine days time.
This year’s family spectacular boasts a packed programme of events for all ages on July 1 at the Freizeland Recreation Ground on Church Lane Underwood.
The new committee, who have organised this year’s event, told the Advertiser they have been conscious of keeping cost down to a minimum for visitors.
One of the organisers, Cllr Robert Sears-Piccavey, said: “I’m really excited about it. We’ve never had live music before.
“And we’ve also got a Punch and Judy and a magic show for children which is free of charge which again we’ve never done before. It’s fantastic. The parents can come in and know there is an hour’s entertainment for their children for free. Where else can you say that? It’s going to be really good.
“We also want feedback from the event from the community so we know we’re putting on something that they actually want.”
As well as the music and children’s shows on the recreation ground there will be a collection of Vintage vehicles including a Merlin engine which powered the Spitfire and the Fire Brigade will also be in attendance.
In the Arena there will be various performances as well as the usual Tug-of-War and other fun activities.
There will also be a dog show with a twist with catagories including ‘Best Sausage Catcher’.
Entry to the gala costs £1.50 per adult and £1 per child or pensioner.
