A GROUP campaigning to save the heritage and character of the Kimberley brewery are concerned the site could be turned into a ‘mini-ghetto’ after hearing the owner has teamed up with a social housing provider.
The chairman of the Save Our Brewery Group (SOBS) Darren Warner thinks the site’s new owner Rafiq Vindhani could drop a ‘bombshell’ about the historic brewery being taken over with affordable homes.
But this week Mr Vindhani said it would not all be social housing and pledged to continue to look at ‘development and commercial’ uses.
He said plans are not finalised but a public meeting with housing provider Barteak is imminent when all final plans will be revealed.
