A man from Giltbrook has been found guilty of a sex offence against a 14-year-old girl on a bus.

Newton Stewart, 36, of Swindon Close, initially denied a charge of intentional, sexual touching of the girl without her consent on the Rainbow 1 bus, which is operated between Eastwood, Kimberley and Nottingham by Trent Barton.

However, after a trial, he was found guilty of the offence, which took place between Wednesday, March 11, and Sunday, March 15 last year.

Stewart was due to be sentenced at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court, only for the case to be adjourned until Friday, January 29 because a pre-sentence report had not been prepared in time by the probation service.

He was granted bail until that date, on condition that he does not contact the girl and does not travel on the Rainbow 1 bus between 7 am and 9 am and between 3 pm and 5 pm on any weekday.
