COMMUNITY groups across Nottinghamshire are to be asked to help run the county’s small libraries to help save money.
Nottinghamshire County Council is asking groups if and how, they could enhance services in the county’s 28 smaller libraries which are having their hours reduced next year as a result of council budget cuts.
As well as volunteering to cover shifts at the libraries, the council wants to hear from people interested in forming library support groups and fundraising to help pay staff.
Councillors will then hold meetings with key organisations to work out the right way forward for each library.
The county’s small libraries, which include those in Selston and Jacksdale, already have limited opening times, and will be open for just ten to 12 hours a week as of April next year.
