The picturesque countryside which inspired one of Eastwood born writer DH Lawrence’s most famous novels, Sons and Lovers, will be explored on a guided walk next weekend.

On Saturday March 8 DH Lawrence Heritage will guide the walk, visiting a number of the sights depicted in the novel, including the Morel’s family home and the surrounding countryside and woodland area by Moorgreen Reservoir and Felley Woods, the area which surrounds Haggs Farm, the ‘Willey Farm’ of the novel and the home of Jessie Chambers, with whom he had a relationship for many years.

The walk starts at 10.00am from the DH Lawrence Heritage Centre on Mansfield Road and admission is free.

The walk is approximately seven miles long and will take around three hours.

Refreshments can be purchased from the D.H. Lawrence Bistro in the Heritage Centre.
