Children can step into a magical world with local artist Elaine Winter this half term as she hosts a special poetry and art workshop at Eastwood’s D.H. Lawrence Heritage Centre on Mansfield Road.

At the workshop on Wednesday 27th May Elaine will teach children how to write a Haiku, a Japanese poem and then illustrate their poem by creating a book using handmade paper filled with mono prints.

Elaine is a local artist, based in Newark, who works in schools and the community delivering art workshops.

She is a Notts CC Adult and Community Learning Services art tutor at Reach Learning Disability, teaching art to adults with learning disabilities. Her own work is based on combining traditional and experimental printmaking techniques and she exhibits both in the UK and abroad. In 2013 she won the Harley Prize at the Harley Open.

There are three sessions between 11.00am and 12.00pm, 1.00pm and 1.30pm and 2.30pm and booking is essential.

Admission is £3.50 per child with discounts available for Broxtowe Leisure Card holders and D.H. Lawrence Heritage Annual Members.
