Have your say on supermarket and homes plan

PLANS to build a supermarket and 44 homes in Ilkeston after Derby College moves its campus into the centre of town will go on public display next week.

The college has revealed that the supermarket proposed for the Field Road campus will cover 65,000 sq ft and include a petrol station.

The development will fund the new state-of-the-art campus planned for the centre of town.

It is looking at three locations for the new campus – one of which is the former magistrates court in New Lawn Road, where the exhibition is taking place next week.

Residents can have their say on the plans from 2pm to 8pm on Thursday March 29 and Friday March 30 and from 10am to 1pm on Saturday March 31.

A planning application is set to be submitted to Erewash Borough Council after the consultation with the new premises planned to be open by September 2013.

It is estimated that the new campus will cater for 1,000 students and staff.
