The headteacher of The Kimberley School has been invited to the next Kimberley Town Council meeting to discuss the possibility of his school becoming an academy.
Councillors decided in their meeting last Thursday to invite him along to the next full council meeting in September.
Mr Teal decided to register the school for academy status at the beginning of July. This does not commit the school to anything but means Mr Teal can learn about the financial implications.
It would mean the school would be run by the governors and not Nottinghamshire County Council.
This would give them scope to change the curriculum and dictate what pupils went to the school.
